Originally from New England, Meghan Garrity has been working with adults and children in the DC area for one year. Since getting her Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College, she has been able to develop and run art therapy groups with adults with traumatic brain injuries, developmental disabilities, substance use disorder and dual diagnoses. She is passionate about the power of art making to help disenfranchised individuals and to build connection and community. Meghan’s personal artwork explores the importance of place and how we affect/are affected by our physical and social environments. She uses techniques such as painting, book making, collage and drawing with clients to help them process and tell their stories and find meaning and well being in their lives.
